A thousand crunches, a thousand reverse crunches, a thousand of these “wall holds” will NOT get rid of that pouch of fat (How does one WORK OUT FAT? Really?! Do you think you can contract it like you can a muscle? Noooooo! And noooooooo the muscle underneath/that it is within will not “burn” it this way!) Abs are made in the kitchen.

I think they’re just saying that it works out the lower abdomen, rather than claiming that you can spot reduce through doing this exercise, just my interpretation.
